5 Great Reasons to Book your International Ski Holiday Early in 2019/20!

5 Great Reasons to Book your International Ski Holiday Early in 2019/20!

Already dreaming of a winter 2019/20 snow holiday on the powdered slopes of the USA, Canada, Japan or Europe?

If you love your skiing and snowboarding, those spectacular images are not just good for the soul.

Booking ski holidays now for travel late this year – all the way through to April next year – ensures you get the pick of the dates, resorts and accommodation – and potentially save thousands in the process.

And so, here are five great reasons to turn, “We’re thinking about going skiing overseas” into “We’re booked!” as soon as possible.

1. Early Bird Deals are Available…For Now

Excited ski holiday regulars wait for the release of Early Bird deals with frosted breath because they can literally slash hundreds, or even thousands, off a ski trip.

Early Bird deals vary but, in a nutshell, they include:

  • Discounted airfares to be booked and paid for by a certain date

And usually one or more of the following, or often bundled together:

  • Discounted accommodation (or bonus free nights)
  • Discounted or free lift passes
  • Discounted or free equipment hire

For example, Whistler, Panorama and Aspen Snowmass are currently offering up to 30-50% off accommodation – that won’t last!

The important thing to remember is that the earlier the bird, the juicier the worm. In other words, the sooner you book, the cheaper the price and more options available.

That’s why, for example:

  • Flights for the first two weeks of Jan 2020 reach capacity quickly (so airfare prices will only increase as time goes on)
  • 40% of savvy 2019/20 ski holiday travellers book by the end of May.
  • 70% book by the end of August

2. Only Pay 25% Upfront

We get it. There’s a lot of life to live and pay for between now and the end of the year.  Especially if you have a family.

That’s the beauty of booking early in the year through Blue Powder Travel.

We only need a 25% deposit to lock in your 2019/20 season ski holiday. That covers your flights, accommodation and anything included in the package.

The only time you may need to pay more is if your Early Bird deal or flights have special conditions such as payment in full by a certain date, etc. But when you weigh up the thousands you can save by booking early, it’s usually well worth the commitment.

You only need to pay the balance up to 60 days prior to your departure date. Considering that’s well and truly after the end of the financial year, your holiday may be courtesy of the Tax Department!

3. Lock in Dates that You (and Everyone Else) Wants

Being Australian, there’s something magical about a winter wonderland holiday at a beautiful mountain ski resort in another country.

That’s why, by the end of April, international ski resorts are close to booked out for:

  • Christmas and NYE to the end of January
  • School holidays
  • Earlybird hotel rooms in places such as Whistler
  • Smaller resorts like Silverstar.

You also need to get in very early if you travel during local holidays, such as:

  • USA public holidays and Spring Break at the end of March
  • European school holidays mid-February
  • Chinese New Year in Japan

By booking early you’ve got the best chance of securing an amazing experience for you and your family, partner or besties.

4. Enjoy the Best Choice of Accommodation and Activities

Want the convenience and ease of a ski/in ski/out condo right on the slopes?

Need to keep the kids entertained with ski lessons?

Planning a get together with family/friends at the hottest new restaurant in town?

Booking early greatly improves your chances of securing items on your must-have list (room numbers and bedding, dates, ski lessons, etc) and bucket-list (preferred accommodation, limited availability activities such as heli-skiing, dining, tours, etc).

There are few feelings better than being able to tell your family and envious friends about your ski holiday plans months in advance. And few things more stressful and disappointing than being stuck on a waitlist or missing out completely.

5. And Finally…Your Reward Awaits

Possibly the best reason for booking early is knowing you have a fantastic holiday with your favourite people waiting as a reward for surviving 2019!

So, when things get tough, you can just sit back, smile and picture yourself basking in the fun of those powder white slopes and après ski delights, thousands of miles from a care in the world.

Booking ski holidays for the 2019/20 season now offers some enormous benefits. Not only are you far more likely to enjoy the dream holiday you’ve imagined, you’ll save a whole lot of money, stress and potential disappointment too.
